Leaving Home

In reality, it's not quite that simple.

Sixteen– and seventeen–year–olds are often advised that they can legally leave home, but their parents can go to court to force them to go back. So in effect, they do need the permission of their parent(s) or carer, or, failing that, the court. But they are not committing an offence if they leave home without it.
